On Friday the children had a lovely time exploring the outside area. After several days (weeks?) of rain and/or cold we were able to really enjoy the time outside. Here are a few pictures of the children enjoying the area, including bikes, scooters, stilts, sensory table (sorry parents for the cornflour on coats), musical instruments, cars, chalking, riding in the bus, and much, much more.
As of next week, we will beginning to think about Christmas – we will hear the Christmas story, incorporate our number and literacy work into our Christmassy theme, and do many lovely Christmas crafts.
If your child has a favourite Christmas story book they would like to show us, they are very welcome to bring it in to school (preferably named) and we will do our best to read it to the class. It will be kept safe and returned once we have read it together.
This week we have been talking about helpers in the community. So far we have talked about the role of a doctor, a postman/lady and a firefighter.
This morning we talked about fire fighters and we discussed the importance and use of the fire engine, sirens, flashing lights, hoses, ladders, etc. The children had some really great contributions! This afternoon we went outside and tried to put out a pretend fire (foam and red paint) with our hoses (pipettes filled with water). We had a lot of fun, as you can see from the pictures!
